Hey, I'm Barry — a product designer based in Seattle with 20+ years in the field. Right now is one of the more exciting times to be doing this work — AI is changing how design gets done and I'm deep into it. My practice evolved building this site.
My background is grounded in visual design and front-end development. I've led design teams and chosen to return to IC work — it's where I do my best thinking. My focus is complex B2B platforms — I spent nine years as founding designer at SkyKick, shipping three products end-to-end before the company was acquired.
I work with AI as a creative and strategic partner. The experience and judgment I've built over the years is what structures the work and guides the output — and I'm constantly refining how I work as the tools keep moving.
I'm resourceful in pursuit of a solution and comfortable in ambiguity. I limit my assumptions and open up to possibilities.

What inspires me
Visual arts speak to me — I catch gallery shows to recharge and paint as a way of working through visual compositions. View my artwork
I stay curious across many fields and find books the best avenue for discovery: history, psychology, sci-fi. I keep track on Goodreads.
What moves me
A native of the northwest, I get deep in the outdoors. Backpacking, mountain biking, and surfing are my top three sources of stoke. Gardening and birding bring me joy. I live in Seattle with my wife, daughters, and pup Coyo — when home, I'm cooking and planning the next trip.
